7 ways to actually get your guests to RSVP
Every couple knows the feeling: invitations went out, and a week before the wedding half the list is still "probably coming". The truth is simple — people don't reply when replying takes effort. Here is how to drop that effort to zero.
1. Give a personal link, not a question in a chat
"Are you coming?" in a chat asks the guest to compose an answer and asks you to write it down. A personal link with a "We're in ✓" button turns the RSVP into a one-second action, and the answer records itself.
2. Ask everything on one screen
Party size, meal preference, notes — one screen. Every extra screen costs you a percentage of your responders.
3. Send in the evening
Between 20:00 and 22:00 people are relaxed on their phones. A message sent at ten in the morning is buried under the workday.
4. Remind only the non-responders
Nothing is more irritating than a reminder sent to someone who already confirmed. A system that automatically filters out whoever replied keeps the reminder pleasant — and keeps your guests fond of you.
5. Write like a human
"We'd love to know if you'll be with us 💚" outperforms "Kindly confirm your attendance". This is a wedding, not a summons.
6. Speak to each audience in its own voice
Segments — the bride's family, army friends, colleagues — let you match the wording to the group, and send each wave at a different time.
7. Close the loop on the day
A morning message with directions and a table number isn't only a service to the guest — it also nudges the last-minute undecided to show up. The same message can carry the photo-album link, so the evening ends with everything your guests shot.
Rule of thumb: if an RSVP takes more than three seconds, fix the process, not the guests.
In Weddigo all seven steps are built in: personal links, a single-screen RSVP form, status-aware reminders, segments and send waves — all counted in the dashboard in real time.
Questions and answers
Why don't guests RSVP to a wedding?
Almost always because it's fiddly, not because they don't care. When replying means composing a message in a chat or filling a long form, people postpone it and forget. One button on a personal link drops the effort to zero.
When is the best time to send invitations and reminders on WhatsApp?
In the evening, between 20:00 and 22:00, when people are relaxed on their phones. A message sent during working hours is buried under the workday and forgotten.
How do you remind non-responders without nagging?
Send reminders only to those who haven't answered, in light human wording, and no more than twice. A system that automatically filters out whoever already replied guarantees no guest receives a pointless reminder.
