How the calculator works

Weddigo's wedding gift calculator works out the usual range from three things: how close you are to the couple, who is coming (alone, as a couple, with children who eat a meal) and the kind of event. It starts from the per-person ranges published in Israel — acquaintances and colleagues 250–400 shekels, friends 400–800, close family 600–1,200. A couple gives 1.5 to 2 times the single amount, a child who eats a meal adds half the per-person amount, and a noon wedding or a wedding abroad pulls the range down.

  • Closeness sets the per-person range: acquaintances and colleagues 250–400 shekels, friends 400–800, close family 600–1,200.
  • Coming as a couple: 1.5 to 2 times the single amount.
  • Each child who eats a meal adds half the per-person range.
  • Noon, Friday or garden wedding: the lower half of the range. Wedding abroad: half the bottom up to the bottom, since the trip is part of the gift.
  • Everything is rounded to 50 shekels — a yardstick, not a price list.

In the ranges published in Israel, acquaintances and colleagues usually give 250–400 shekels per person, friends 400–800, and close family 600 and up. The starting point is roughly covering the cost of your meal, and closeness decides how much you add.

Usually 1.5 to 2 times the single amount. Friends coming as a couple give roughly 600–1,600 shekels, depending on closeness and the event.

Does the calculator save my choices?

No. It runs in your browser, saves nothing and sends nothing anywhere.
